Blackberry on its own is a jammy, slightly seedy dark berry — sweeter than raspberry, deeper than blueberry, heavier than either. Left alone it would sit thick on the palate.

The menthol is what stops that happening. It comes in on the exhale at a solid mid-to-high strength and thins the jam out into something that holds up over a long stretch without building.
